Project
New Technologies & Their Future Cultural Impacts

Role
Creative Designer, Design Technologist
Team - Ishraq Ashtarian, Firas Zedan, Rama Deshpande, Mang Kipgen
Description
This is an exploration of quantum concepts and aims to establish metaphorical connections with the realm of fashion. During the Quantum Jam Workshop at The New School, our team explored  the implications of quantum computing on the post-humanist aesthetic, the future of fashion, and its cultural impacts. Through an interdisciplinary approach, we challenged the traditional fashion paradigms, envisioned a future where new technologies influence the creation, design, and functionality of garments.

Takeaway
My most significant takeaway from this project was the immense value of interdisciplinary collaboration in exploring the future of design. Working alongside quantum experts during the Quantum Jam Workshop taught me how to bridge the gap between highly complex scientific principles and creative expression. I learned to use design not just as an aesthetic tool, but as a critical lens to visualize the invisible—translating abstract concepts like quantum entanglement and encrypted data (using Qiskit) into tangible forms.

This experience solidified my understanding of the artist's crucial role in engaging with emergent technologies. It’s vital for designers to be at the forefront of these discussions to not only envision new possibilities but also to spark a critical dialogue about their cultural and ethical impacts.
