Tackling Complex Challenges Using Visuals & Animation
Role
Motion Designer, Animator
Final thesis submitted to Parsons School of Design is an animation that tackles the complexity of visualizing such an abstract concept as quantum and depicts the juxtaposition of classical and quantum worlds. By creating a visual narrative of these two realms, the film takes viewers into an exploration of how advancements in future technologies such as quantum can both expand our horizons and challenge our perception of the world and the meaning of life.
My final thesis project was a profound lesson in the power of visual storytelling to translate the abstract into the tangible. The primary challenge, and my most significant takeaway, was learning how to effectively represent a concept as complex and elusive as quantum mechanics. This process taught me the immense value of cross-disciplinary experimentation. Before settling on animation, I explored printmaking, coding, and even fashion design, which allowed me to build a rich visual vocabulary and a deeper understanding of the subject from multiple perspectives.
This project solidified my belief that design is not merely about aesthetics; it is a critical tool for asking big questions, making complex ideas accessible, and encouraging a sense of humility and curiosity in the face of the unknown.
